What kind of work is this?

The Head of SaaS Platform Engineering has a key role in leading and guiding the team that will design and implement the SaaS Cloud infrastructure for our first-of-a-kind “Healthcare from the Eye” initiatives. The team’s responsibilities include providing robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks and automating application deployment processes, ensuring seamless integration between platform infrastructure and application delivery.

As the Head of SaaS Platform Engineering, you will oversee the entire SaaS platform lifecycle, from architecture and automation to handover to the deployment teams ensuring operational excellence, enabling the efficient and secure delivery of our medical software solutions as a service.

We offer flexibility in job location, with offices in Helsinki and Oulu, as well as options for hybrid or remote work. However, this role requires visits to our Oulu office at least every other month. Please note that we do not provide relocation services for this position.

Your main responsibilities are:

• Lead, mentor, and grow the SaaS Platform Engineering team and foster a culture of collaboration and technical excellence
• Establish a strong service mentality to support software engineering departments and deployment teams
• Develop strategies for IaC, application deployment automation, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance development and delivery workflows together with the team
• Define and manage the roadmap for SaaS platform and ensure the execution thereof
• Ensure platform reliability, availability, performance, and compliance with security and ensure regulatory standards across platform and deployment pipelines
• Report on platform performance, team progress, and operational metrics to stakeholders and executive leadership

What do you expect from me?

We're looking for an experienced professional with both deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset. Below are the key qualifications and experiences that will help you succeed in this role:

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across CloudOps, development, and operational teams
• Proven experience in leading, managing, and mentoring teams of at least 5 people
• Strong service mentality to support Application Engineering and Operations with tools and expertise
• Background in platform engineering or DevOps with expertise in infrastructure automation and application deployment
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, FluxCD), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools
• Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies preferably Azure
• Strong background in DevOps principles, including continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring
• Knowledge of security and compliance best practices in platform engineering, particularly in regulated industries like healthcare
• Fluent written and spoken English skills
• Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries is a plus

Final Interviews:
