Desktop Support Specialist

What kind of work is this?
The Desktop Support Specialist is critical to the growing operational needs of Topcon’s Eyecare Business. The main responsibilities will be supporting Topcon’s ever-growing employee base and administrating its broad software & service catalogue. This role is exposed to nearly every facet of enterprise technology, allowing you to develop your talent as an IT professional. Work for this position will be tracked within the Jira-based Global IT Service Desk.
The position is located in Oulu, offering the flexibility of a hybrid work model. However, due to the nature of the work, we expect you to be able to work on-site at least 3 days a week. You’ll be part of our global IT team, with colleagues based in the US. Because of the time difference, the role occasionally includes evening meetings.
Your daily tasks may include the following:
- Triage incoming requests to the Global IT Service Desk
- Provide primary support to internal staff both locally and remotely
- Manage lifecycles of PCs, mobile devices, and conference room equipment
- Administrate user profiles and access across Entra ID, as well as a variety of SaaS platforms and infrastructure
- Perform regular audits of licensed service user engagement

What do you expect from me?
You enjoy solving problems, helping others, and keeping things running smoothly. If you’re technically skilled, service-minded, and ready to take ownership of daily IT support tasks, this could be the right role for you.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Good understanding of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems
- A+ certification is highly desirable
- Fundamental knowledge of a shell scripting language (e.g. batch, bash, PowerShell)
- Fundamental knowledge of networking principles
- Good understanding of customer needs and business requirements
- Detail-oriented and proactive in following up to ensure customer satisfaction
- Strong skills in record keeping and documentation
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work according to deadlines and business impact
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication skills; professional, approachable, and clear in interaction

If selected to move forward, you’ll participate in more detailed discussions involving both technical experts and HR. We’ll dive deeper into the role, your expertise, and how we can collaborate.
Final Interviews:
The final stage will be a one-on-one discussion, typically with senior decision-makers. After this, we’ll verify references and move to contract negotiations.
We’ll provide detailed updates as the process progresses and inform you of any changes to the timeline or structure. Our aim is to make the experience as smooth and clear as possible.
