Technical Communication Specialist

What kind of work is this?
As Technical Communication Specialist, you will be responsible for the technical communication of some of our products to external audiences and to our internal stakeholder groups. Our technical communication covers all the guidance documentation designed for the various phases of the product lifecycle: installation, deployment, use, maintenance, and end of use. You are also responsible for planning the related processes and the communication channels.
You will be working among all our products as a part of our small but experienced team of Technical Communication Specialists. You work closely with the Product Development team to gather information planning input for new and existing features in the product. You are also in very close collaboration with Product Management and Quality Assurance teams to produce accurate and relevant technical guidance of the product to the defined audiences.
In this role, you’ll get a chance to develop the existing content and processes together with our other Technical Communication Specialist. Your goal is to ensure that technical communication is a continuous and integral part of product development.
We work in a hybrid model, with offices in both Oulu and Helsinki. In this role, the primary location is Oulu, with the expectation of working on-site at least three days a week. Some flexibility can be arranged when needed.
Your main responsibilities are:
- For both new and existing features:
- Information planning
- Technical writing Illustration
- Technical Communication via other medias (e.g. videos)
- Development of technical communication tools and processes
- Supporting the development of technical communication style
- Supporting the preparation of product training material
- Participation in terminology development

What do you expect from me?
People with varying levels of experience can apply, but the ideal candidate would have the following skills:
- Technical communication skills:
- Excellent command of technical communication processes
- Excellent information design skills
- Excellent investigation skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex technical information and reconstruct it into understandable guidance content
- Good illustrations skills
- Strong communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English
- Ability to work with complex technical products:
- Good understanding of product development processes
- Good problem-solving skills
- Technical understanding
- Experience in technical communication for software products and data systems is considered a plus
- Commitment to quality:
- Interest in continuous improvement and process development
- Quality- focused and committed to good documentation practices required in a regulated field

What does the recruitment process look like?

First Interview:
We’ll begin with initial discussions via Teams. This is a chance for us to get to know each other better and for you to ask any questions you might have.
Second Interview:
If selected to move forward, you’ll participate in more detailed discussions involving both technical experts and HR. We’ll dive deeper into the role, your expertise, and how we can collaborate.
Final Interview:
The final stage will be a one-on-one discussion, typically with senior decision-makers. After this, we’ll verify references and move to contract negotiations.
We’ll provide detailed updates as the process progresses and inform you of any changes to the timeline or structure. Our aim is to make the experience as smooth and clear as possible.
