Linda Ranta

Hi!

My name is Linda. I have been working at Topcon as a Test Engineer since December 2023. I'm also finishing up my thesis at the University of Oulu and soon graduating as Master of Science (Tech) in Biomedical Engineering.

My daily work consists of both "off-script" exploratory testing as well as planning and executing test cases to verify that the software we are developing meets the requirements that have been set for it. I work in close collaboration with the team's developers and product management to ensure that the final product is in line with regulations, user needs, designs and specifications. And when discrepancies and bugs arise, it is my job to study and report them. As a Test Engineer, you get to be part detective, part problem solver, take things apart to find the root cause of the problem, be meticulous and persistent and think outside the box - there's never a dull moment, especially since my team mates are all supportive, fun to work with and give me the opportunity to learn something new every day.

I have previous work knowledge from working in both HW and SW verification in Telecommunications and as a Biomedical Imaging Research Assistant at the University before landing my first testing job in a Medical Technology company. This field truly brings a lot of meaning and motivation to your work: the things you do are helping people around the world to live better and healthier lives. That, along with company's other values - service, trust, creativity and life - made it an easy decision for me to join Topcon. The nice office spaces right in the center of Oulu are of course a really big bonus.

Outside of work, you'll find me either out in nature with my dog or doing yarn-y crafts while watching TV - true crime or sports, most likely!
